This ornithologist and painter born in Santo Domingo in 1785, naturalized American in 1812, is one of the first naturalists to capture the attitudes of birds on the spot. He was nicknamed the American Woodsman during his stay in the United Kingdom in 1826.
The guided tour of the exhibition “Illuminated Nature: journey into the fantastic world of naturalist Illustration” will shed particular light on these engravings loaned to the museum, from September 20 to December 20, 2024, by the Institute library. of France – French Academy.
