Special moments that I want to share with you: 1 and a half days of filming to prepare the show “The French’s favorite village” presented by Stéphane Bern, the broadcast date of which is scheduled for the end of June on France 2.
Location : the village of Arçais, labeled small town of character since January. Arçais will be in competition with 22 other villages... Obviously the game is not won, but all the charms of this pretty market garden village will be revealed.
It is Jean Leyssenne, former mayor who will be the guide and will meet René Mathe, young retired architect, on the towpath. A discussion begins ontraditional market garden habitat, first on the reach side (waterway between two dams inside which the water level is substantially constant). We understand the essential role of the Sèvre.
We see a succession of volumes, the hayloft (place where hay was stored). We can imagine all the activities on the farm. Next to it, the alley, the width of which was calculated to allow a wheelbarrow to pass... In this district of Garenne life was rustic... Jean remembers the arrival of the first water points in 1958...
Change of scenery… street side. Traditional facade, a house opening onto the street where 3 generations often lived... It's hard to imagine that we are in the heart of the Poitevin marsh, a landscape shaped by the hands of man… René likes to say that market gardeners also have their “pyramids”…
Second day, continuation of the filming. A new team arrives. Those are the drone pilots. Can't wait to see the shots of these funny machines!
Jean continues his walk and visits Nadia who lives there. beautiful house with green shutters facing the port, accessible only by boat. For lunch, it will be a fricassee of eels caught that morning by a market gardener.
Last shot before I retire... The marsh of yesteryear... with women in traditional costume on the port, Jean-Philippe and his horse on the boat.
