Particularly because of its flat terrain, bike rides in the Marais Poitevin are pleasant.

We have tested for you a route on the border between the Vendée and Two Sevres Going through Arcais, Damvix and Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud. In the heart of the marsh, these three villages are very popular in spring, because they are marshland and full of pretty paths along the water.

So we leftArcais at the end of the morning to join Damvix by the little paths of the Marais. Here we came across cows that looked peaceful.
It's true that during this period, we see fewer people. Time sometimes seems suspended by the sound of birds and the wind moving the leaves of the weeping willows.
In this first part, we are rather on paths along the edges of fields and under trees.

Once in Damvix, we head back towards Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud. There, these are mainly paths along the water. This is where we chose to picnic, observing the cows and enjoying the calm of the water.

The last part of the route is my favorite: Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud – Arçais. These are very pretty shaded paths sometimes bordered by waterways. You will cross charming little bridges which sometimes make the route a little more sporty!

An itinerary that does all the same 30 kilometers, but entirely doable in a day or half a day.

A short stroll in the Marais will allow you to get away from your sometimes stressful or overly urban daily life. Here, we take the time to enjoy the essential things and discover the beauty of nature.
