ChaurayRelive the atmosphere of the great holiday departures from the 50s to the 70s.

The dates
- Sunday, May 18, 2025

The commune of Chauray is organizing the 2nd edition of “ IT'S A TRAFFIC JAM IN CHAURAY ", a reconstruction of the emblematic traffic jams of the 1960s, particularly during holiday departures. Although the town of Chauray was not the site of a traditional traffic jam, it intends through this event to commemorate the traditional traffic jams during holiday departures on the islands of Charente Maritime and to make a nod to the traffic jams currently recurring on the A10 near the Niort area.
Already an organizer of vintage vehicle gatherings, the town wishes, with its partners the Automobile Club 79 and the association Le Fanal Rouge 79, to allow owners of vehicles from the 50s to 70s to contextualize their vehicle by staging it in a dynamic way.
Period clothing is recommended and appreciated for occupants, roof racks with luggage are of course welcome on cars, as are trailers or vintage caravans!
Period scenes will be organized and improvised. An “Esprit Bouchon” elegance parade with the “Ville de Chauray et de l’Automobile Club des Deux-Sèvres” prize-giving and christenings in collector vehicles will liven up the afternoon for car enthusiasts.
The Yellow Bounce group, whose repertoire is mainly built on traditional and swing jazz pieces, will make the most daring shiver and dance!
For fans of remote-controlled cars, SLOT 79 will offer you an animation around an electric road circuit. What memories for today's adults, a return to childhood guaranteed!
Savory and sweet meals. Surprises for those with a sweet tooth.
