Two annual meetings
The Plant and Garden Festival takes place every year the 2nd weekend of June and the 3rd weekend of October. Two seasons, each with its own particularities for plants and their cultivation.
The Péré estate
Since the 18th century, ten generations of Bastard of Crisnay follow one another on the estate. The current castle was built at the beginning of the 19th century by Marie-Louise Aymé de la Chevrelière, daughter-in-law of Louis-Isaac Bastard de Crisnay: a typical example of the large country residences of the Ancien Régime and the Empire, in Bas-Poitou and Vendée. Architecturally simple, the house, flanked by two wings, stands out against a backdrop of greenery. It is preceded by a pavilion in the shape of a dovecote perched on a mound surrounded by a moat with a waterfall. Its chapel is built on the site of an annex of the old castle of which only two turrets remain. The 20 hectare wooded pleasure park extends with 100 hectares of agricultural land. It is adorned, on the edge of a pond, with a factory in the shape of an isba (wooden dwelling of Russian peasants) and two plane trees three centuries old, 50 meters high, classified as “remarkable trees” in 2018.
