The Niort Japan pop show will organize its third edition on May 18 and 19, 2024, thus confirming the continued popularity of manga in the city of Niort.

Niort Japan pop show
The Niort Japan Pop Show, a event dedicated to Japanese culture, will settle at Noron the May 18th and 19th next ones. Artists and fans of Japanese culture will finally have the opportunity to come together during this two-day show. The Niort Japan Pop Show will bring together mangakas, cosplayers and passionate about Japanese culture. This is the third edition of this event Niort, organized by SRL JPS PRODUCTIONS which also has around ten other similar exhibitions in France, such as Nice, Cherbourg, Saint-Malo and Chambéry.
Au Noron exhibition center, visitors will have the opportunity to discover a wide variety of Japanese culture, with a special emphasis on manga which always arouse keen interest. This popular genre appeals thanks to his pace of publication regular (one volume every three months), its price affordable (around €7) and captivating themes that he approaches, such as science fiction.
Cosplay competition
A cosplay contest is an event where participants dress up as fictional characters. The word “cosplay” is a contraction of the English terms “costume” and “play” and refers to theart of recreating costumes and characters realistically. It's a way for fans to meet, exchange advice, and celebrate their love for the characters and worlds they love.
During a cosplay contest, the participants go on stage or parade in front of an audience and a jury. They present their costume by playing the character corresponding, by reproducing their movements, poses and behavior. The jury evaluates the costumes based on criteria such as resemblance to the original character, quality of costume construction, originality, attention to detail and overall performance.
Good to know:
- A selfie or any photo outside of the costume may result in a disqualification.
- Le Work in progress (stage photos of the creation/modification of the costume) must show the progress of the cosplay, the different techniques used as well as the potential 3D files.
- Any use of bladed weapons, firearms, flammable, explosive or corrosive products that could harm others or the equipment made available to you is also prohibited.
- The cosplay must be carried outat least 60% of the outfit by the candidate.
- The participant will have to go on stage for a duration between 30 seconds to 1.30 minutes maximum. He is asked to perform in his cosplay.
