At the end of Impasse de la Gachère, the Cabane du Port presents a typically Maraîchine architecture and appellation. The “hut” designates a peasant dwelling erected on the edge of the “wet” marshes (flooded in winter) and the “port” a pier where the boats slipped with their cargo of hay, mogettes, ash wood, eels and pike…The laughe escapes towards the “Marais Sauvage”, less wild than originally since its development into vast grassy plots in the second half of the 19th century. The outbuildings, connected to the house by the “ballet” (courtyard), house a “ponne”, a monolithic tub for laundry. A line of ox bones used to hang fishing nets or trellises runs along the facade of the building.
