Description
A route that will give you height and a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings when you travel along the ridges that link the municipalities of Saint Martin and Prahecq. Your itinerary
Step 1: The Garland
The Guirande is a tributary of the Sèvre Niortaise which brings together water from several sources located in the neighboring towns of Brûlain and Prahecq. It has a very irregular course with rapid rises in water.
Step 2: Figère leisure area
Located in the heart of the village, the La Figère leisure area is made up of a multi-sport field, a large green space, a large area covered with pink sand which allows, for example, to play pétanque. 'a public toilet.
Step 3: Sainte-Madeleine Church
The church consists of a single nave with a ceiling of 25 m. long, without transept, with vaulted apse and painted with a starry celestial vault. The capitals of the second bay supporting the bell tower are decorated with an ox's head held by the horns by two monsters, a centaur hunting by shooting his arrows, a mermaid (La Mellusine) braiding her hair and accosted by 'a wild boar... To the right of the walled southern door, a sculpted shell reminds us that the building is located on one of the secondary roads of Jacques via the Deux-Sèvres.
Step 4: Saint-Maixent Church
Built in the 1110th century. in a castle complex, it was returned in 1568 by Joscelin de Lezay to the abbey of St-Maixent, deprived of this property. Rebuilt at the end of the Middle Ages, burned down in 1911, then restored, during the Revolution it became a fodder and wood store and a ten-year temple. It was classified in XNUMX.
