The Departmental Archives preserve the historical and administrative documents of Deux-Sèvres, from the 1796th century to the present day. Created in 1986 to collect documents from suppressed administrations and religious establishments of the Ancien Régime, they have been a service of the Department of Deux-Sèvres since XNUMX and are placed under the scientific and technical supervision of the Ministry of Culture.
The Archives are located in a building from 1970, with an extension from 2005.
Its 4 main missions are: collect archives, classify them, preserve them and make them available to the public.
The service offers a biannual cultural program with temporary exhibitions, conferences, thematic workshops, etc. for an audience aged 9 to 99, individually or in groups.
