Frontenay-Rohan-Rohan

The commune takes its name from the lineage of Marshal of France Pierre de Rohan, lord of Frontenay, who married his cousin Anne de Rohan in 1517. Located on the road from Niort to La Rochelle, the town, bordered by the Courance and the Guirande, is marked by a long, tormented history. Of its castle and its double enclosure, only a few remains remain. Today, the embellished town center invites you to stroll in the shadow of St-Pierre church and discover the wash houses and fountains, most of which have been restored and stand out as real small public monuments.

To see: fortified St-Pierre church, port of Noyer, Tour du Prince cultural space (library and exhibition hall), circuit of fountains and wash houses, municipal park “Le Grand Logis”.
