Maison du Marais poitevin
About
Reveal the mysteries of the Marais Poitevin and its Green Venice. How was it created? By whom and why were the canals dug? Find out at the Maraiscope, a large-screen projection and model showing the history of the Marais Poitevin. At each screening, a presenter introduces the area, then returns at the end of the film for a chat. The permanent exhibitions give you an insight into the life of the market gardeners: building a boat, eel fishing and a 19th-century interior. For the 2023 season, the Maison du Marais Poitevin will be hosting a temporary exhibition entitled "Ma vie de libellule" (My life as a dragonfly): a meeting between dragonflies, daughters of air and water, photographer Daniel Magnin and naturalist philosopher Alain Cugno. The shop offers carefully selected products: gastronomic specialities, crafts, books, souvenirs, etc.
