With the festive season just around the corner, I invite you to (re)discover an unusual and magical event in the spirit of Christmas and... of... Poitevin Marshes. Let yourself be carried away to the Enchanted Alley!
Forget real or synthetic trees. Here, for Christmas, we're decorating a more majestic tree, the king of the Marais: the pollard ash of course! For the 3ème consecutive year, the Allée Enchantée competition will be honouring this essential tree on the weekend of 16 and 17 December, with a new feature: a second alley will be opened to the competition, in view of last year's success.
To have the privilege of decorating a pollarded ash tree, nothing could be simpler: all you have to do is sign up via the Comité des fêtes de La Garette and choose your tree. There are 45 trees in competition and 40 have already been booked... So hurry up and book yours! Participants have two days to decorate their ash tree, give it a theme and a name.
For several months now, the little fairy hands have been working passionately to run creative workshops to help you make decorations using recycled materials to decorate your tree. On the programme: paper mache technique, pebble painting, fishing line key ring... Ideas you can use to decorate your own tree in the living room.
The lucky ones were able to see them in action at the Ash Pollard Festival à Amuré at the beginning of the month, where a number of creations were presented. A magical moment awaits you during this weekend, where enchantment and ecology combine to fill you with wonder.
On the programme for the day:
There will be plenty of activities on offer. A Christmas market with local craftspeople, will be held throughout the weekend of the event, as well as horseback rides with local artists. the Maison du Cheval, a a walk with Father Christmas, a pottery workshop and other surprises...
For participants in the competition, a prize for best disguise will be awarded to the person who most closely resembles the theme of his or her tree. At dusk, let yourself be carried away by the enchanted world of the two enchanted alleys and the village of La Garette, to marvel at the beauty of the decorated and illuminated ash trees. The winners will be announced late Sunday afternoon.
It's an event not to be missed, with plenty of warmth and Christmas atmosphere.
