Tourism in "Niort-Marais Poitevin"!

The Communauté d'Agglomération du Niortais, created on 1 January 2014, now has 40 municipalities in 2023 following the recent creation of the new communes of Plaine d'Argenson (merger of Belleville, Boisserolles, Prissé-la-Charrière and Saint-Etienne-la-Cigogne 1 January 2018) and Val-du-Mignon (merger in 2019 of Primary, Usseau and Thorigny-sur-le-Mignon). In terms of tourism, this territory is mainly organised around :

  • of a destination "nature"with a high profile, the Poitevin Marshes
  • of a city centre, Niort, which is establishing itself as a destination for short stays (leisure tourism)
  • business tourism linked to the economic dynamism of local businesses.

In addition to these tourism focal points, the community territory is structured around the Sèvre Niortaise and rural villages (Échiré, Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon...) concentrating accommodation and services, know-how and historical heritage. It also benefits from its proximity to the Atlantic coast, but also of important tourist sites like La Rochelle, Puy du Fou and Futuroscope.

Finally, in recent years, a number of major discovery routes (Vélo FrancetteThe Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela, GR 36) make it possible to insert it into a regional-scale approach.
